STEWARDSHIP FAIR ~ NOVEMBER 15-16
Join us this weekend after all Masses for the Stewardship Fair! In
addition to light refreshments and flavored coffees, you will be able to meet
and speak with members of many of our ministries. They will keep you informed
about what they do. No matter how much or how little your time or talent, we can
find a place for you!!
"We give thanks to God always for all of you, remembering you in our
prayers, unceasingly call to mind your work of faith and labor of love and
endurance in hope of our Lord Jesus Christ."
- Thess. 1:2-3
Father Joseph's Insight
November 16, 2008
God expects each one of us to return to Him with increase of our
gifts and talents. When it is our time to stand before Jesus for judgment, may
we hear the words, "Well done, my good and faithful servant [steward]. Come
and share your Master's joy."

Stewards are like the Worthy Wife
The worthy wife in today’s first reading sets an example for
Stewardship. From a traditional perspective, the worthy wife brings her husband
good rather than evil and does what we consider “womanly” work in the home. More
importantly, “She reaches out her hands to the poor, and extends her arms to the
needy.” - Prov. 31:12-20. The worthy wife represents not only the traditional
woman, but also the steward who serves family, home and community.
Stewardship
is Good Use of Our “Talents”
Everyone knows the Parable of the Talents in today’s Gospel. The two
“good and faithful” stewards take the talents given them by their master, invest
them and return them with profit. Out of fear the “wicked” servant buries his
single talent without any return and is thrown into the darkness by the Master.
The meaning is clear. Christ tells us that each servant is given talents
“according to his ability,” with the expectation that the talents will be
returned with increase. Our “talents” may be time to share with others, talents
to lend to our families, our parish and our community, or the gift of
hard-earned money. We are privileged to invest those talents without fear, be
they many or few, and to return them to the Lord with increase. “Let go, let
God, and see what happens.”

Stewardship Renewal - Stewardship Fair and IMPACT Weekend
You will recall that in mid-October all registered parishioners
received an initial mailing explaining our Renewal and containing pamphlets
for prayerful consideration of donations of TIME, TALENT and
TREASURE. Our Lay Speakers have been giving testimony each week about about what Stewardship means to them personally. Father
has discussed Stewardship themes during his homilies. Banners are up in the Orleans Hall
and in the Church.
Each parishioner has been asked to consider carefully how best to
contribute TIME, TALENT and TREASURE to make St. Joan of
Arc a thriving and vibrant community of believers. Our Stewardship Fair will
occur the weekend of November 15-16. After the Saturday evening Mass, there will
be light snacks in the Orleans Hall, and after the Sunday Masses, there will be
homemade baked goods available, so come see us! Our ministry leaders will be
there in person to answer your questions and take sign ups.
One week later,
on November 22-23, IMPACT WEEKEND, all will be asked to bring their
commitment forms to Church to be collected during the Mass.
The IMPACT will be a change that transforms our parish.
